A few days later you receive a peculiar report from the Norteste Province, the northwestern part of Paneira. Apparently, strange glowing lights had been seen flying around there since before the colony came to be - but this recent rash of sightings were accompanied by the discovery of a dozen dead cattle, who had perfectly square chunks of them carved out. Despite the egregious wound, coroners found that the cows died of heart failure - and interestingly, there's little to no red blood found in the carcasses.
The discovery had agitated the ranchers of the province, who clamor for the military's presence in the region. There's even a petition from those ranchers that made its way to your reports desk.
