You eventually come to question even, what is the point of establishing your dominance over such a pitiful bunch.
Yet still others cling to the human statue in some hope of salvation, which does incite your ire.
<span class="mu-b">"This..."</span> you clench your fanged maw with restrained fury, <span class="mu-b">"...This is my domain. Atlantis and all it was is mine by the... human right of conquest. I have here... HURK-HROLK!"</span>
Your massive form heaves as you vomit up a putrid mass, of what remains of your unfortunate victims. As portions of the half-digested mass wash and billow away in the waters and horrify the merfolk, you quite easily pull forth an untarnished item of splendor. Not tiny itself yet nearly the size of a ring to you.
<span class="mu-b">"See here, the crown of Atlantis. As the rightful monarch then, I demand this pretender of yours... that I may judge you worthy or no, to dwell in my domain."</span>
With a fanged smile you feel quite confident in your statement and claim. Indeed, if it even mattered anymore, surely you are the next in the line of Atlantean royal succession after the untimely death of the last king. And it must be that the merfolk feel the same way, for they all fall silent despite their prior clamoring for survival.
Only, their attention is not to you, but the temple statue as you soon notice. Or rather, the emerging presence from behind it.
<span class="mu-r">"HHHHHuman right of conquest? WWWWWhat does that matter here? TTTTThousands of years and fathoms apart."</span>
An oily, unpleasant voice creeps its way through the waters to you. The source you come to notice, by the dim glow of the gathered merfolk. Fleshy appendages, thicker than your own limbs slowly writhe their way around the statue. Tentacles, pulling forth an ever more massive form from a caved in cavern beneath the rear of the temple. Before long a darkness comes to envelop much of the temple as the creature, a kraken, encompasses the interior with its body.
<span class="mu-r">"TTTTThis is my domain now. DDDDDeny me at your peril."</span>
Not total darkness for the temple though, as the luminous glow of the merfolk is reflected by the colossal eye of the great octopod, focused on you as a fellow sea monster. A significantly smaller fellow sea monster, that is.
>Looks like it's octopus for dinner tonight! Unleash your fury upon this pretender!
>State your claim beyond just that of humans, your authority over the oceans cannot be denied! Else they deny your god.
>Eesh, you didn't expect this. It's bad form for sea monsters to attack one another. You certainly won't surrender, but you aren't looking for trouble.
>Oh illustrious octopod King! Your own freedom is a sign of his legitimacy! You merely came to pay tribute, and will now be taking your leave... very quickly!
