"vincent i like you, i really do." Her voice takes on a tone usually used for scolding young children. "but you need to improve your standards when it comes to what you eat."
Right. The harvester who eats raw organ meat is judging you on what YOU eat. You roll your eyes at her. "C'mon. It tastes good after you soak it in this wine."
"vile tricks...and i thought i could trust you. we can't be friends anymore..."
"C'mon. You're trying too hard."
"pfft!" She sticks her tongue out. "yeah, yeah, alright, i'll stop."
"If your standards are SO GOOD, then, what the hell do you eat?" You already know the answer but you wanna see what she says.
"oh. meat. lots of it. ACTUAL meat, vincent, not spam." She shudders as she opens up a can of spam. "bone marrow's also pretty good if you roast it."
"Huh. Never thought of eating marrow."
The Man taps you on the shoulder as you prepare to cook up some sandwiches. What samples should he prepare? You did say you wanted to study something.
"They should be labeled STATIC SCALES and STATIC BLOOD."
The Man flashes a thumbs up as he goes to retrieve those samples. Time to start cooking.
You messed around with various ratios of wine, water, orange juice and milk to see how it'd affect the quality of the wine-soaked sandwiches. Good news, it doesn't really seem to matter as long as the mixture contains 70% wine, give or take, so you're able to stretch out your samples...
>-0.75 SAMPLES used! 1.75 SAMPLES of OBSCURA remain in your inventory!
>4 WINE SOAKED SANDWICHES obtained! (Heals a moderate amount of PHYSICAL HEALTH. Side effects may occur if too many are consumed in one day. They degrade in quality after roughly two days.)
"hm." Ashton sniffs one of the prepared sandwiches. "wow! you actually made this ghoulish meat slop smell like actual meat. i can actually eat this...if you blindfolded me."
"You ate one yesterday. C'mon, you're acting like a vegan now."
"well- hey! don't call me a vegan; those people are weirdos, man!"
"Pft. Alright, c'mon. We got something to study."
The Man has prepared the samples like you asked him to. Normally you'd try to rush through this so you'd have time for other things, but nope. This time, you're going to be slow and methodical. First thing's first, the STATIC BLOOD.
What you know about it so far: It can absorb a ludicrous amount of heat and it is invisible when exposed to visible light. The Man proposes that you use that convenient bucket of snow you got from 199X's cell to lower the blood's temperature.
Ashton, for her part, proposes that you paint some of the blood onto one of the human flesh samples. Could it make flesh invisible, perhaps?
You start with the bucket test since that one is probably the safer of the two. You lower a beaker filled with STATIC BLOOD into your snow-filled bucket. Almost immediately, a reaction takes place. You...can actually see the blood now.
