>>6307974You know not to tangle with maybe-crime bosses in a bad way, so you won't do anything drastic. But you also know that looking too meek often leads to getting coerced against your will.
"Alright, alright... but please, let's talk right here. I've had a bad time with people trying to get me 'in the back', y'know."
The shark still wears his too-friendly smile, but you spy a bit of warmth in his voice.
"Fair's fair. This Don Bosco is not some honorless bastard - I just want to ask you a couple questions."
Wait, Don Bosco? That name kinda rings a bell. The shark boss continues.
"First: did you cheat today?"
"Nope! I can assure you, it's all genuine luck. You can ask the dealer if you want."
"Good! Keep it that way. Wouldn't want a repeat of New Avalon, now, would you?"
If he knows about that, he's got to have a very good information network. Kind of frustrating when you only vaguely heard of him and he knows more than you.
"Second... where is your mentor? The one they called Sierra?"
The question itself threw a monkey wrench in your train of thought. For the life of you, you cannot remember if that is your mentor's true name - despite you being practically her shadow in those days. And then there's the fact that Don Bosco's body language completely changed. An air of tense seriousness has crept in, and his permanent smile falters as he await your response. How much does he know? Why is he asking you this?
