That is smart. It became something out of Nothing. It has intelligence. It knows where it came from. It probably can't return to Nothingness from a simple spell, like the Killing Curse. It can return if the concept of time is taken from it. The thing introduced by the ministry throwing hundreds of Time Turners into the void.
Time turner. Which there is only one left, apparently. A thing created by Merlin. The guy who, along with the founders, sealed a rift in reality.

Her last memory. Before she was tossed into the place between Time and Timelessness. I am not sure if Salazar was tricked into sacrificing himselt or if he was still a dickhead back then but a good person deep down. If he was damaged so badly But I know Helga would toss herself into Hell if it was needed. I think maybe Salazar had his soul harmed when he ripped himself free. He was a dickhead but also befriended the other founders. I don't think someone who is so hideous he forced a young girl to sexual abuse herself for his enjoyment could have stayed friend with a person like Godrick. Couldn't have tricked Rowena. Or been close with Helga.
