It has been a decade since you first visited Sathar, the city you called home for two years until you were transferred to Sarnath. And yet…waiting here in line under its large gates is a new experience for you, given you’ve always been admitted swiftly to the city – first as the son of your father, then as a member of the Sarnorian army.
Still better to not take any chances, given you are riding a warhorse that would usually belong to the cavalry corps of the Army…without any identification to prove you are a soldier. Maybe going through the normal queue will make it easier on you – after all it’s a sad reality that men are the same everywhere you go and some of the more corrupt officers might very well confiscate your new steed to re-sell it.
As the patrol slowly marches along the line of civilians and merchants waiting to be let in the city, you sweat cold…
Rolled 31 – Flat check needed to roll under 70
…except nothing happens, as the soldiers’ attention is attracted by a young boy who seems to have lost his cool, and runs away – likely a small-time thief, but the soldiers’ attention is focused on running after him.
And so you’re finally inside the city.
What do you wish to do? (Pick two)
> Find a room to rent – you might stay in the city for some days > Try and find a stable for your horse – can combine with the first option, but you’ll need to bargain> Go and inquire at the local military garrison to try and find your old squad and squad leader – you need to get witnesses to get issued a new document proving you’re a soldier (with all the privileges and discounts that entitles you to)> Visit the market> Go check on the shop you invested in – if you’re lucky your investment might have borne fruits!> You’re thirsty…and you seem to remember a nice tavern around here…or two> …of course a man has needs. Search for a brothel> Write-inMultiple options can be combined if you can make your case. Note that we’ll be in Sathar for a while, unless you wish to leave, such as to visit your family, so feel free to write in new ideas and/or think what you want to accomplish in the city.
FYI – Sathar is the capital of the entire eastern frontier of Sarnor. A large city of 225,000 inhabitants, it’s the main market in the east before Vaes Dothrak. You could easily resume your duties as a soldier, or look for a new job, or…well, you get the idea.
