"It's intent activated. It just helps put me into the right mood." You say with a firm and understanding nod.
"Really..."
"Intent activated?"
"Ahem." Beta makes a gesture towards the mana-way ramp, and you get back to business. Shifting the handlebar, you trigger the Ride-Hoppers transformation into its flight mode, keeping it just high enough to hover. As the engine roars to life, the machine resonates with a powerful and resonating hum. The mana-way finally responds, and threads of energy coalesce into familiar roads, suspended high above. Pushing your bike from zero to maximum, you're thrust forward, then miles into the sky. Various shocked screams and gasps erupt from behind you. Baby's first time?
"Whoo!" Beta pumps a fist as he ascends behind you, the villagers in his care reacting very much the same as yours.
"Heh." Even Henry appeared to be relishing the experience, it probably wasn't likely often he got to cut loose with a vehicle. The vehicles and carriages that landed onto the pulsating highway made a soft staticky sound as they rolled along. The bright morning sun illuminated the lake below you; its calm waters reflected the rays upward at you, creating a picturesque mirror of the skies and yourselves.
You continued like this for some time, with some villagers daring each other to look, being awed by the sight as much as anybody would. It was looking like things were going to stay quiet. Even the Tokyo defense cannon was just barely in sight, just over the horizon.
"Hey, look at that!" Beta's exclamation prompts you to focus your helmet's compound visor forward. Your eyes widen in disbelief.
"No way.." you whisper to yourself.
A tiny dot approaches from above, you can see the cannon swivel to track it, only for the object to duck and weave around it, seconds before each shot. As it got closer you could make out more details. It had several spines adorning its ventral and dorsal sides, it was vaguely serpentine shaped, much like a certain reptile in flight, along with a stylized face on the front. Quickly, Henry brings futuristic binoculars to his helmet, inspecting the sight.
"Shock..." he mutters, swiftly reaching for his communicator. "It's a Saurian Draco lander! Not a type we've seen before, it's huge!"
Huge? Lander?
Thrusters along the body suddenly fire off, twisting, and turning the body rapidly, gracefully evading your cannon. The Draco continued its aerial dance, evading fire nimbly, until the cannon landed just one shot on it. A fiery explosion engulfed the lander as armor exploded outwards. The armor disintegrates, and something emerges from the smoke, diving far below the cannon's reach.
