>You shouldn’t be here? What does she mean by that?
>Listen here Renee I'm gonna crush some fat nun puss tonight and the devil help any who get in my way
“Renee.” You lean in, your voice low. “I’m crushing fat nun puss tonight, devil help any who get in my way–so what do you mean that I ‘shouldn’t be here?’ You were certainly singing another tune during our last meeting.. from what I remember, you sought to keep me for another two rounds, no?”
“Lady Ava!” The zombie blushes (or, as close as dry flesh can approximate a blush). “I didn’t mean it like that, you know.. It’s just.. the monsters here. I don’t recognize them. I don’t think they abide by your command, my lady. You ought to be safe around here, near BROCELIANDE’S edge, but.. any deeper, and the monsters may begin to turn on you.”
It’s not wholly uncommon that you run into a monster that does not recognize your rule–the more simple ones whose base instincts drive them, or defiant ones that deny your ladyship over them. You can still soothe those ones with a few honeyed words. But, in some rare situations, they deny you for someone–or something–stronger..
“I’m not altogether familiar with the situation.” The zombie catches your gaze. “But.. I’m sure you’re aware of the rumors. The beast that lurks about these woods.. it could be something these monsters hold in more high esteem than even you, your ladyship. You may rule the night, but these woods are the beast’s and the beast’s alone. You should be careful.”
“I see..” You grimace. You still very much doubt that there is some magical mythical beast in the woods–but if what this zombie says is true, you could have some competition here. You’ve been where monsters bend the knee to another beside yourself, and you don’t much like it.
“That said, lady, there is something else.. strange, about these woods. I’m sure you may know already, but..” Renee begins, but her voice is cut short.
“Ava?” Mari calls out. You hear her trudge through the swamp after you.
>Quickly! Push the zombie under the mud! You could get another capitalized popup that you’re losing trust points!
>Wait. This could be important. See if you can hear her out.
