Quoted By:
“A mission? What kind?” Ethel inquired, hiding behind her long hair as she spoke.
“One that requires stealth and espionage. Do any of you know any Morlocks that might want to come?”
You were glancing pointedly at Callisto when you said it, but you wouldn’t outright refuse any suggestions from the other two.
“Glass and the Deep One were both in the X-Force. They’ve done recon before, but the Deep is more suited to underwater missions for obvious reasons.” Callisto replied. “Tommy would probably be a great pick if you just wanted to get into a locked room or gather info.”
“Who’s Tommy again?”
“The girl with the long, rainbow colored hair. She can turn herself flat.”
“Ah, right. That would be useful.” you thought aloud.
“I think I could probably convince Mole into helping us.” she suggested.
“That’s the one that can burrow underground, right?”
Callisto shook her head. “Not quite. He can energize solid matter, making it easy for him or anyone with him to pass through. He can also seal up his tunnels so that no one follows him.”
Another great ability. You really did have to try and remember the power-sets of everyone down here. You might need them in case of an emergency.
“Feel free to sit on it. You can just hand me a list next time I swing by ‘The Alley.’ Or you can call from the phone booth. Your call.”
“The Alley” was another name for the Morlock base, and its exact location tended to vary, depending on their current situation.
She nodded. “It’ll probably only be those three, but I’ll ask around.”
“Just don’t ask Robbie. Knowing him, he’d blow the whole mission just for a chance to show off.” said Nature Girl with an annoyed grimace.
You shrugged impassively. You were almost certain that neither you nor Callisto had Robbie in mind when you thought of “stealth and espionage”.
“I’m sure he just needs to blow off some steam.” you said. “Speaking of, I think we should offer training to any restless or inexperienced Morlocks. I’m sure Matt and Marc might be willing to take in some people with the right skills, and I’d trust them enough to not have to worry.”
The Morlock leader gave you a blank look. “I have no idea who either of those people are. Are they at all suited to training mutants with powers?”
“They’re experts at martial combat, but I’m not sure how they’d handle mutant powers.”
“Try and figure that out first, and then we’ll talk. A little exercise would do them some good, but I’d like for everyone here to have a better handle on their powers. Pit fighting and rough-housing can only get you so far.”
“I’ll see what I can do.”
