You can’t help but feel that you need to prepare more. A couple of calls, and some guidelines for Vortexia should ease the feeling.
“You’re leaving?” Vortexia notices that Crossbill is about to walk away.
“To the next room, you think I’m the type who talks on the phone in front of everyone?” Crossbill sneers.
“You just did that.” Clutz points out.
“Because you were supposed to listen.” Crossbill blinks rapidly, more confused than the idol. “I’ll be in the living room if you need me.” The bird struts out of the kitchen.
You’re left alone with your most promising new solo act! Both from a musical and a criminal standpoint...
“Okay, first things first, Clutz.” You get all serious. “I’m gonna give you some pointers on what you have to do, and remember: If I didn’t have every bit of confidence that you could do this I wouldn’t have brought you in.”
“Yes, manager, yes!” Vortexia acts like this will further her musical career and not her newly found life of petty crime and general stupidity. Any positive encouragement seems to serve to motivate her. Teachers of the world, please take notes!
You give a Crash Course on what being your navigation support is all about. Credit where credit is due, Vortexia gets the hang of it with ease. She’s almost like some kind of prodigy, the Liu of her generation, if you will. She’s so professional, she’s already calling you by your codename.
“So, review the material while I make some calls. Okay?” You pull out your phone. Your Knowledge allowed you to be the most efficient teacher there is.
“Yes, Phil Noon, yes!” Vortexia exclaims with gusto. You’re so proud of her.
“Want me to help?” Wilma showed up mid lecture to eat breakfast. This is the best she can do to help, because she needs to stay and take care of Chio.
Vortexia accepts the proposition! Both girls start going through the lessons you just gave.
Onto the phone calls, first, you need to inform somebody that you won’t go to school… you pick Vera.
“Johnny, It’s 6 AM! WHAT THE HELL?! Why are you calling me this early?!” Vera is upset about this random call. Silly Vera, it’s closer to 7 than 6. Besides, she’s the one who complained about being called at 4 AM. AND, she has school today! When does she wake up to get ready?!
“I need you to tell everyone that I’m not going to school today. I’ll be busy.” You inform!
“NOOO!!! I won’t be seeing you, today?!” Vera sounds heartbroken. “...Wait, busy doing what?”
“Stuff.” You say.
“Not this again…” Vera grumbles.
