There, scratched into the floor, is a very lightly scratched word; GOLD. Based on how the human knee can turn and bend, it seems he was trying to scratch this word in.
"Gold... Hmm. This mafia man might have been trying to confess his crime in the last second. Have there been any gold heists in the past few months? Tell all repositories to up their security! Or maybe he was killed for a big score, and trying to warn his superior-"
Your boss is a fucking idiot. But you aren't mad about it. This is all you needed. This guy was a low level mafioso; he doesn't give a shit about his Capo' and how much money he could earn him. In this moment; the only reason someone would scratch a message like this is for the purpose of <span class="mu-i">revenge</span>. He wanted to let everyone know who did this to him. And you know exactly what he meant.
Later, the investigation team chalked up the message as to being an attempt of desperation to escape, or a hint at future criminal enterprise. But you know better. The position of that tooth, the same one he put under his shoe to scratch in his message, was too specific. He put it right in the middle of the "o" in Gold. You know exactly what this criminal meant by that. It means the Killer, the same one who killed your father, has a <span class="mu-i">gold tooth</span>. You are now just one step closer to finding him. And when you do? You'll get some of your own revenge.
