“What's that?” he asks aloud, turning questioningly to you.
“A son needs his father.” you tell him, laying a hand on the elder Stand user's shoulder. “I didn't know who my father was until I was already a man.”
“And see, you turned out fine.” he tries to joke, to lighten the mood between you both. And, you think, to try and make excuses why he shouldn't go.
“That's because he raised me, along with a lot of the others of the village.” you reply. “Tatsu is...Was a great man and a fantastic teacher. You should go yourself, and meet with both him and the boy's mother. Even if you don't tell him who you are, and she agrees to keep your connection secret, at least be there to mentor the boy. What if he has a Stand like you and Jotaro, not knowing what it can do or even control it?”
“I....Hadn't thought about that.” Joseph says aloud, raising his good hand to his chin. “Hadn't even considered the possibility he might be a Stand user as well. Am I losing my touch?”
“I don't know about all that, but I do know that you have a son who needs to learn from his father.” you tell him aloud, clapping him on the back. “I'm sure a man as experienced as you would have plenty to teach the next generation. After all, we all need people to take our place, once we're gone. If there's one thing I've learned, its that there is ALWAYS another threat. Always something else out there ready to tear down everything you've built, to destroy your family and people. And its our job to ready the next generations to take those threats head-on.”
“You might be right.” he says, sounding less upset now and more thoughtful about your words. “I'll have to take some time to consider your words. Perhaps I DO owe it to him, from one Joestar to another. Heh, after all, Granny Erina may be right.” he says, smirking a bit. “Thank you, Karn. You've given me much to think about.”
“Of course, anytime.” you reply, the two of you sharing a nod before turning your attention back to the girls. “Alright, that's enough of a break. Are you ready to get back to work?”
You and Joseph help Caulifla and Triumph Requiem continue testing the Stand's newfound powers, its flames melting a metal exercise machine. Which the fires wouldn't go out on their own, forcing the Stand to once again use its fire manipulation to absorb those fires into itself to prevent the whole building from burning down. And after a few more tests, learning that Triumph lost both Dragon's Roar and Phoenix Tears, as well as Burning Phoenix and Burning Wrath abilities. But the newfound powers seemingly make up the difference, the only question is if it can make that laser-like beam of fire. And to test that, you'll have to return home.
