>>6144579As the two assassins begin descending the long and narrow flight of stairs, you realize that their positioning makes it so that they have little room to maneuver. You aren’t the only one that notices, as May looks up at you and seeks your approval. You nod, and the thief girl rushes forward. With her speed, you have no doubt that she is the fastest person here. She opens her cloak, and showers the staircase with a slew of caltrops. The Riahi stop in their tracks, acting carefully so as not to fall down the stairs and leave themselves exposed. But it was too late for that, you already had a clear shot.
You hadn’t fired a bow in several years. You first learned how during your teen years. Ashe, Countess Blair’s husband, had been a renowned sniper during the war. He’d taken you and his son, Ogier, on your very first hunt, and taught you how to fire. You had some passing skill with the bow, though admittedly, it was not your preferred weapon of choice. There was no beating the feeling you had when chopping into a foe with your axe. You wanted to be close enough to see the sweat forming on your opponent’s brow as they realized what a terrible mistake they’d made to engage you. Still, now was no time to be picky about how you fought. You were on a mission here, and the more of your stamina you conserved, the better. You unsheathed your bow from your back.
“Pull the string tight and aim for their center mass.” Cuthbert suggests from behind you. Had he noticed you were a bit rusty? “They’re lightly armored, and are leaving themselves exposed. Make it count.”
>Rally Strength! (Tristain: +3 STR)You knock two arrows to the string of your bow. It must have looked like you were showing off to those around you, to try and fire two missiles at the same time. But you knew that such a fear was well within your capacity. You activate the Crest of Indech, and let both arrows fire at the man called Zayn.
>Tristain: 26 STR + 6 (IB) + 3 (Rally) - 17 DEF = 18x2 = 36 DMG>Zayn: 19/55 HP>Crest of Indech: 3 / 4 Charges Left“Gah!” Zayn shouts in pain as two streams of light fire from your bow and land directly in the warrior’s chest. He staggers back, nearly falling off the stairs onto May’s caltrops as he tries to find purchase. “T-that hurt! What was that!?”
“Brother!” Zain shouts in fury.
One of Alvin’s men, who wields a bow, follows your lead and fires off an arrow. Lacking the same sort of strength you have, it lands in Zayn’s arm. It doesn’t appear to do that much damage, but every little bit here counts. Elric also fires off a shot from his bow that swings wildly to the left, bouncing harmlessly into the sand. At least he tried.
