>>5721470When Jack formally accepts the contract, things start to move fast; the job is only a couple of hours away.
Your anonymous employers provide you with a rendezvous point and a time, tucked away in Old Gotham. There’s…not a lot of targets in that area that’d be worth the effort of having you babysit, but some people are paranoid.
And the fact that they still needed a hitter this close to the operation means that their timetable must be all kinds of fucked up.
Still, that’s not really your concern, you’re just along for the ride.
If you’re gonna be a-wandering into the unknown, it’d be best to do it while sporting the heaviest armor you’ve got. And in that vein of caution, you’ll bring your Dragunov; just in case a spot of overwatch becomes necessary. You also bring your mule-kicker of a .44, as well as a knuckle-trench knife for a little CQC spice. Lastly, you top off with three frag grenades and a smoke grenade. Hopefully you won’t need to use any of your weapons, but you’re not really the optimistic type.
Jack drops you off on a rooftop near the rendezvous point, around twenty minutes early; gives you time to do a recce. Everything seems on the level, so when a van belonging to Gotham City Water & Power cruises around the corner and comes to an idling stop at the pre-arranged time, you know you’re good to go.
When you approach, the driver gives you a nod and gestures for you to approach the side door.
You lightly knock on the side to alert its occupants to your presence.
“Who is it?” The voice is impatient, but the vitriol in his voice doesn’t seem to be directed at you.
> “Gunsmoke.”The door panel slides open, revealing the speaker; a tall man dressed in potentially the most outlandish outfit you’ve ever seen. It’s got the color scheme of a glorified circus tent; how on earth is orange and purple suitable for a night operation?
It’s certainly a…unique ensemble, yet he somehow manages to make it work.
“Killer Moth. Get in, we don’t have time to waste.” He says, offering a hand to help pull you up.
When you’re able to peer more closely into the van, you only just barely manage to stop yourself from going for your revolver. Besides Killer Moth, the van is stuffed to the gills with Penguin’s men.
The only thing keeping you from carving a swathe through em is the thought of bungling the contract and that none of them seem inclined to make an overtly hostile acts. If anything, they don’t seem to recognize you at all.
As the van takes off into the night, you decide to…
> Attempt to engage Killer Moth in conversation. Maybe you’ll glean some insight as to the team’s objectives.> Make idle conversation with some of the Penguin goons. Might be able to figure out their motivations a little more clearly.> Keep silent and go over your gear one last time. You’re not here to make friends, you’re here to be a human battering ram.> Other?
