With Farnese and the Holy Iron Chain Knights descending into the gap Serpico and Vlad fell into, the duo took their sweet time getting to know each other as they waited for their clumsy saviors.
"So you really think she won't kill me until I get to Mozgus? Are you certain of it?" Vlad attempts to bargain for his life, feeling like he's out of options for the time being.
"Certainty implies the absence of variables... If you don't provoke her, give her the answers she wants and resist the rough spanking she'll give you just for the sake of it... Yeah, you'll be alright until we get to Albion." Serpico weighs the options. "I'll be sure to take care of your horse and maybe give you some energy if you look too immolated."
"This isn't exactly what I would call reassuring... Are you with or against me here?"
"Something in the middle of that, consider me neutral. Guess I'm starting to see what Farnese saw in you:" Serpico ponders as Vlad raises an eyebrow.
"There is no persona or character strong enough that your lance can't pierce through, Vlad. This is an admirable trait, but also that one that's bound to put you in trouble. People don't exactly like to be called out on their farces. Your forceful introspection even reached the likes of my commander. Much like me, you give her a desire to break free of their terms and conditions, but that's not something all can muster." The knight plays Farnese up as some misunderstood victim.
"I can't be the first one to have pointed out that she's off her marbles, right?"
"No, but you're the first one that did so while looking genuinely joyful in her company. Not even her father sees her as an approachable figure, and she can tell it so. Someone that can tell who she really is without rejecting her... It's intriguing, but her mind is so bent by isolation that the only way for her to show you affection is to mark you as her property. You've traumatized her with compassion, a taste of what life could have been if she was plain, but cherished."
"And how exactly do you know that?" Vlad asks, but only receives a blush as Serpico adverts his gaze.
The blonde man has felt this all firsthand, but seems to not reciprocate his mistress' feelings, even when they both agreed to be equals. She wanted something that he could not give, and if Serpico could find a way to make her happy without swaying too much from his quiet life, it was worth trying to resolve the conflict, even if her first crush turned into her new toy.
"Answer me, man! I can't reach Albion in my deathbed. Someone needs to be there to prevent that catastrophe, will she even listen to what I have to say?"
"Hey, there she is, why don't you ask her yourself?" Serpico abstains after seeing a familiar blonde girl descending with a few helpers.
