>>5597988But while your own energy is lacking, it doesn't mean that you are reliant on only your own might. You turn towards your future daughter, who is still staring at the skeletal mage with her jaw dropped slightly.
“You okay kiddo?” you ask her, laying a hand on her shoulder. She jumps a bit at the touch, shaking off her shock as she refocuses.
“Yeah. Just, wasn't expecting him to have that much power.” she replies, turning her gaze from him to you with a hint of concern in her eyes. “But are you okay? If I didn't know better, I'd have thought Momma was tryin' to kill you.”
“I'm fine, but my power's drained.” you tell her, chuckling a bit. “Mind giving your old man a bit so he can put on a show?”
“Of course.” she replies, reaching up and placing one hand on your chest. Her power floods into you like a tsunami, forcing you to actively keep your aura down to avoid blowing everyone away with the sudden surge of might. “Just say when, I've got plenty to spare.”
“That should be fine. I just have one attack to fire off.” you tell her, Future Chaya pouring a bit more energy into you before lowering her hand. “Appreciate it kiddo.”
“Of course.” she replies happily. But Ace isn't looking towards you all, instead down the mountain. Not towards the Crimson Demon Village behind you all, or towards the crater below but towards the other side. Following his gaze, you see a familiar form standing nearby, looking at the now faintly-visible barrier's outline. Or, rather, two familiar forms. And immediately feel your blood beginning to boil. “Daddy? Ace? What're you two.... Oh HELL no!”
“Worry not, they can't get in.” Mechikabura says smugly, walking over to the three of you and looking down at the Supreme Kai of Time and Trunks's forms, slightly obscured by something you assume to be his barrier's boundary. “This bit of spellcraft is far beyond what she's capable of countering.”
“I hope so, it's worked so far.” you say, feeling a small worry in your guts. But you push it down, just a bit longer before the party's over and everyone can go home, leaving no reason for the Time Patrol to bother your son and his family.
“Now, we're to the last gift.” Chilli says as you move towards him, your son turning to face you. “Are you ready, Dad?”
You can feel the weight behind his question, your son no doubt having sensed your power lagging after surviving your wife's barrage. But you walk forward confidently, kneeling beside Megumin holding Meloka Wolbach and taking her tiny hands in yours.
“You ready to see what your Grandpa can do?” you ask her, your granddaughter's eyes lighting up and blazing crimson in excitement.
