At that very moment, a hole opened up in the floor, and Shaggy climbed out. The Spirit Ball was still in his mouth, and the unconscious body of Limbo's ruler was slumped over his back. He gestured for you to come closer, and you nodded.
“EVERYONE! FOLLOW ME!”
—------
Not long after, the other end Shaggy’s portal opened up, leading you directly into the Kaiju King's castle. Ammit and Khonshu were already waiting here, facing each other with both their arms folded, like a pair of statues. A crowd of Monster citizens gathered at their feet, but no one other than you, Ben and B seemed to notice the Egyptian deities at all. Instead, all their eyes were glued to you.
“Why here?” you asked, looking around at everyone.
“It was the safest place I could think of.” he mumbled, using his teeth to hold onto his passenger's shirt. He shifted to one side, and gently lowered the unconscious girl onto the cold, hard floor.
“Shouldn't we be getting back to the fight?” Ben asked, climbing up alongside you.
“I cannot control the Kaiju from here.” Mina admitted, hovering up to step out of the portal. “But, that should not pose a problem, considering the size of Simon's horde. Victory is already at hand.”
“If you do not mind me asking,” James began, pulling himself up. “How exactly did you take control of the Kaiju?”
“Varnae used blood magic in their creation. By that logic, I assumed that, with careful manipulation, I would be able to send them all into a frenzy.”
“That sounds kinda cool.” B offered, still dragging his axe behind him.
“What about the ring?” you said.
“What ring?” Mina replied, stepping aside so Harpy could fly out of the portal. She still had Beast held in her clutches.
“The barrier ring that Varnae used. It was kind of weak for having such a powerful enchantment on it.” you added.
“That was not my doing.”
“I remember a guy that had a barrier ring. Had to fight an army of demons before I could get to him.” Ben put in. “He got away before we could catch him, though.”
Mina paused and glanced over at you. You caught her look, but decided to let the matter rest for now. Because what were the chances of Ben running into Varnae of all people during his Vegas trip?
“Why's everyone looking at us like that?” Ben asked, staring around at the monsters that were starting to crowd around you.
“I don't like it.” B said.
As you got further into the throne room, the crowd began to part, giving you a clear look at the Kaiju King, lying down on a cot placed in front of the steps leading up to his empty throne.
You gasped, and everyone stopped dead in their tracks. Everyone except Mina, who put that vampiric speed to good use. She blurred into motion, reaching the King's side in no time.
You forced your legs to move, running up to catch up with her.
“What happened!?”
