Something seems suspicious about this individual. Perhaps you are just jumping to conclusions, but you wonder if this character is actually a mime, or jester, or whatever he is. The mask is odd, but the Jester King wears one so it can't be considered that strange.
"How'd you and Lulu know each other?" Emogen questions.
"Met her when I was eatin' here one time. I know sign language, so we talk." Piers says, picking up his spoon again. "I'm not much of a party person. We only really hung out here."
They aren't going to make this easy, you think to yourself.
Your co-worker asks, "Did she say anything that might make it seem like she would want to just disappear?"
"No." Piers says, scratching his cat. "Lulu isn't that type."
You ask if Lulu seemed distressed or out of sorts the last time you saw her, and where that was.
Piers thinks for a moment, and then says, "Saw her walking down a back alley near the market."
"Oh? What was she doing?" Emogen says intrigued.
"Walking."
"Other than that." Emogen says with a small snort of annoyance, "Did something seem off about how she was acting?"
"I just saw her walking. She seemed comfortable, like it's where a lady of her station would normally find herself." The Jester says spooning some soup into his mask's mouth hole.
"And where was this exactly?" Your porcine friend asks.
He mentions seeing her in the alley between two places called, "The Juggling Jester" and "Mockwright's Marottes".
