As his men lounged around in the forest, waiting for the armored elements to crest the hill Wester was listening in on the progress of the rest of the battalion. In the East the assault on the crossroad village was winding down, with light casualties reported by the assaulting Dragoons. 'Good enough', he thought to himself. If this momentum could be carried forward, Kobberhus would be secure before enemy reinforcements could arrive in force.
He straightend himself out in his seat, trying to placate some of his nerves. There was still no word on how the negotiations with the Petrekorans were going. If there was anything that could change the outcome of this battle, it would be how they acted. Had the negotiation party been attacked? He leaned out of the window to listen. No gunfire from the west. At the very least they probably weren't dead. Captured then? He clicked his tounge in irritation. Whatever the situation was on the western flank, it would have to be dealt with later.
A roar of cannon fire to his left brought Wester to attention. Kannenplfanze's self-proclaimed 'shit-heaps' were cresting the hill, firing their heavy guns into Twayrian positions in the town outskirts. To his right, the newly arrived Panzer Dragoons gathered just below the ridge. Over the raido came reports of three Twayrian infantry platoons holding the outer perimiter, their AA detachment having been ravaged by gunfire from the remaining formation. "Showtime" he said to himself as he began broadcasting on the battalion net.
"This is D-6, we'll begin cresting the ridge at this time. We'll secure the outlying buildings and lay down a base of fire to cover further advances. Mortar Team, Priority target grid square E-E-2-9, fire for effect. Eberhardt
