By the time the Xenos pushed the Mechanicum fleet to the Asteroid belt they had lost a total of twenty ships to the long range fire. None could denote the sheer amount of damage the Xenos took as they attempted to close the gap between themselves and the Mechanicum forces.
TalOS could already see it. With casualties this bad the enemy fleet would not be seen as heroes but instead as idiots for allowing such a large amount of death to happen. Only in the wars against the Ork were such large losses expected as an eternal foe always gave.
They will send a bigger fleet. That was for certain.
The safety of the Asteroid belt could not be understated as the moment the Mechanicum were safely behind the rocks the Xenos began to open fire upon them. A series of explosions, strikes of lightning, and even the scouring of the rock. As the attacks were supernatural some of them were able to strike where they logically could not upon a series of Tartarus Class Destroyers. The only thing was that since these were fairly random, no ship was fallen thanks to such unnatural attacks.
As the Xenos were starting to feel comfortable outside of the Asteroid belt the pelting of Station A-1 slammed into one of their ships. With such firepower it caused the entire Voidship to ignite in fire and plasma! After that shot the Xenos began to make their move and began to approach the Asteroid belt.
If they stayed out of it they would have been shot down by the fortress, surely they realized, which meant that the Mechanicum forced their hand and caused the enemy fleet to fly towards them.
This meant that TalOS was the one who was in an advantageous position. With the precense of the Fortress they are forced to get close and deal with it. With its Void Shields augmented by three ship’s worth it would not fall to the bombardment of barrage fire like the Xenos liked.
They would need to get up and close. Just as TalOS wanted.

>Spring a trap upon them, for the Asteroids are loaded with Acillians and Skitarii ready to start boarding.
