>>5324460Well if you like culture and folklore and things of that nature it is probably something you'll enjoy somewhat. The Okie women are by no means the focus of the entire quest, in fact they only make a direct appearance later in the quest's storyline. The one you see there is actually cybernetically modified, those aren't the legs she was born with.
There's also to be another character concealed in the shadows of the background but this work in progress sketch she isn't included. Trust me when I say that you'll get the amount of monster you're looking for when she comes along in the story good fucking lord.
Since you seem somewhat interested I guess I'll dump the elevator pitch. The quest overall follows the journey of an Okinawan slave during a generational trial known as a Rape of Nanjing, in particular the 6th Rape of Nanjing in the year 2204. During this trial, the fitness of the slave population is tested by throwing them into post-collapse China, which has long since devolved into a large collection of feuding warlord states. The slave population, wearing collars that inject neurotoxin directly into their spines if they roam beyond the approved area, are then given a year of preparation before they are tested in open warfare.
During these events you will get wrapped up in classical Chinese court politics as mercenaries and take a trip to see all the sights that China has to offer, such as that one giant ass slum city that uses pre-collapse super skyscraper as a backbone, the canyon with a massive gate built from the remnants of the three gorges dam that you'll be thrown at to try and siege uphill and, if you're stupid, The Cursed Lands.
In any other place on earth in the 23rd century, employing and arming foreign cannibal slave warriors would be seen as abhorrent and immoral, in The Broken Lands of East Asia on the other hand it provides the perfect excuse to attack your rivals without actually taking credit for it, since you can claim "It's simply the savages that did it." Sure it will come at the cost of tens of thousands of civilian lives, but they were the one paying your enemy's taxes, so as far as you're concerned it isn't your god damn problem. Even if they were your citizens we all know the track record for these kind of things. Pic very much related.
It's going to be a fun ride, and while it won't really be heavily Okinawan focused until the later half, I think you'll get a good chance to enjoy the local culture, especially with the assassination arc where you spend a lot of time in an urban environment scouting for your target.
