The sooner you find people, the sooner you could get your bearings and figure out where you are in the galaxy. You make your way down the mountain, sliding down on its steep cliffside, and start heading towards the old village. Not too long of a walk later you reach the outskirts of town and can see more of those small guys pausing their own business to look at you, confusion and a bit of anxiety written on their faces. So before things get awkward, you call out to them.
"Hey!" You shout, which causes some of them to jump backwards, but you continue. "Any one of you know where I can find a spaceship, or what this place is?"
Nobody in the crowd answers your question right away, but you do see them speaking among themselves in hushed tones. Finally, one of the taller ones slowly approaches you, standing a few yards away.
"You can talk?" The braver amphibian of the crowd cautiously states. He looks more important than the rest of the villagers, adorned with jewelry and a strange symbol on his green-ish head. "Beasts can't talk. Please, identify yourself, outsider." He asks you.
"The name's Kabra." You tell him. It was the name given to you by your parents, who never really saw eye-to-eye with your personality or your antics. Oh well, what are parents for? "Listen, all I'm asking for is a ride out of here, do you know if I could borrow a spaceship from one of you? I promise I'll never bother any of you again."
"And I am Kelper, the leader of Hogany village." The small man tilts his head. "But I've never heard of a 'spaceship' before. Does anyone else know what a 'spaceship' is?" He asks the crowd, all of which seem really confused. You really don't like their response. Has this planet even achieved basic space flight?
"Its one of those, y'know, flying machines?" You try describing to him. "It'll take you past the sky and into the stars?"
"Hrmm..." Kelper thinks, eyes closed in thought. "I've heard of the capital having strange devices that could fly further than the average warrior, but they won't just let anyone wander into the city, much less use any of their tools. Especially if 'anyone' is someone like you." He points to your pink complexion. "They don't give anyone they don't know the time of day. And they refuse to acknowledge this little village either. I'm sorry that I can't do much for you."
So you'll just have to get past their security and steal one of their vessels, you reason. There's no way you'll be groveling or proving your worth to some stuffy authority figures. You're about to ask Kelper for directions, but stop in your tracks as a loud BOOM in the distance grabs everyone's attention.
