You nod your head towards Maruyama while gesturing at him to go talk to Gregory. He gets the memo and begins chattering away. While those two are busy, you grab Kiara's arm and pull her away from the two. She's obviously confused but she doesn't struggle as you drag her somewhere.
Once the two of you are far enough away, you start to question her. "Look. I want you to tell me everything you know about that dude's family. I keep hearing that name on the TV and it's a bit concerning."
"I thought you already knew?" Amusement is evident in her tone. It vanishes when she realizes you're actually not that aware on them. "Oh. Well, they're one of the biggest families when it comes to 'upper society'." You narrow your eyes. She takes this as a hint to cut to the chase.
"Alright, alright, to the point then. Most of the Companies have one or two of the Krakatoas in a high position in the company. I can't honestly name one that DOESN'T have one." She tries her best to mimic finger snapping. It doesn't work but you can't blame her for trying.
"Can't think of a Krakatoa free Company. And with THAT amount of corporate backing? They have access to more tools and augments than anyone besides the companies themselves." The two of you peek over in Maruyama's direction. There seems to be a lurch in the conversation but Maruyama managers to pick the pace back up.
"They usually stay pretty private and cagey about their last names unless it's some big corporate event. Not quite sure why he was so open about it here." Cagey about their last name? That sounds faintly familiar but you can't place a finger on it.
"So, rich corporate family. Gotcha. You acted like you saw a god or something when you saw him?"
"Oh, yeah, they're hardly in public. Let alone without any guards. It's incredible that we even got a chance to interact with one like he was just a regular guy!" Wait, they're usually guarded? You look back at the old man. Why the hell wouldn't some rich coot in his 90s be unguarded? Kiara seems to realize this as well.
"...That is weird, huh?" She rubs her chin. "I didn't see anyone nearby. Did you?"
"No? Okay, now you got me worried. You said these guys are super corporate-backed elites. Why the FUCK would he be here without a guard?" You can't even attempt to hide your confusion here. Kiara paces around the empty sidewalk you dragged her over two.
"Lemme think, lemme think. What else are they known for? There's more than that..."
While you wait for her to dredge up any other useful information, you pull your aerial drone out of your inventory. It's a small little metal ball with a recording device stuffed inside it. It shoots up into the sky once you manage to turn it on. You start fiddling with the controller (which has a screen on it) to get a good look around the abandoned buildings nearby.
"Well, while you're thinking, here's another question. What do you know about Avalon? This place we're in?" The more you know, the better. Right?
