However, due to the nature of questing and written narratives, the formula of 5 disparate case files leading up to a single confrontation with one of the Elder God(s) may not be necessary, or all of the cases could lead back into the main story somehow, though this may also lesson their self contained nature.
Secondly, as I am extremely autistic, I would probably just make up case files and my own Elder God or other events as to not copy from the game too much and risk people having advanced knowledge on what to do next by having played the game before. 1 to 1ing the game mechanics or events may also be similarly giving too much away, as anyone could attempt to min-max that system. Thirdly, a similar problem I've had in my own quests, if you withhold information (like an event choice can lead to gaining Strength but at the cost of losing Reason and so forth) without telling the players and having it be a kind of puzzle could make people upset if it isn't telegraphed strongly enough.
