Urwin opens the door and pulls you in, closing and locking the door behind you. There are several patrons here, including the familiar ringmaster Rictavio, and all of them are huddled in the taproom.
"What's going on?" you ask, looking around dumbfounded.
"The situation is still developing, but I believe it's related to something you did," he says. "There's been word that the new adventurer who came into town killed Baron Varags. They were taking his body to the church this morning, but then..."
"But then... what?" you ask. You are looking around the taproom now, trying to spot Ireena quickly, suddenly aware of the many eyes that are now on you.
"The attackers were just normal citzens," he says. "Some of them wearing cloaks. But I'm hearing reports now that undead are among them."
Undead? Even here, within the walls of Vallaki? Why?
"They were after the Vallakovich family," he continues. "I'm not aware if the Baron's corpse was successfully delivered to the church, but he is who they may have been after."
All the eyes in the inn are on you now, and the silence that hangs over the inn takes on a tone that's too hostile for your comfort.
"I can make a promise to you right now: I did not have any intention of causing... whatever this is. Nor did I intentionally cause what happened to the Baron. Things got out of hand, and..."
"I don't know what you did," he says, "and right now I don't care. What I do know is that in this moment, your safety is in grave danger. I recommend you leave the town immediately with the Barovian burgomaster's sister and her new friend."
Nobody in the room verbally objects - some of them are chatting amongst each other now, but none interrogate you or raise questions about what happened.
"Her friend?" you ask.
He nods. "A nobleman arrived last night, from outside of town. Somebody from Barovia I presume. He sought Ireena. They have been conversing privately in her room for the whole day."
Something about this makes you uneasy. You tell Urwin that you are going to see her right now, and thank him for the protection. You also explain to him that you've just broken out of the town jail, which doesn't dissuade him... he simply reiterates that you must leave quickly. With that out of the way, you march up the stairs to your room.
