>>5311098>It’s true. You don’t know who the Imperials are after. But given the effort they’re going through, there’s a good chance it’s someone of importance, otherwise they wouldn’t have gone waltzing through Kingdom territory on their own. “Ready your men, Sir Bertram. We’ll catch them by surprise.”Sir Betram nods, giving his men the signal to get into position and attack the Imperials. You all move closer, inching towards Fort Highwind. You’re close enough now that you can see the Imperial Army soldiers. Caleb was spot on with his initial assessment. There seems to be a few dozen of them, some of whom are currently in the midst of attempting to batter down the door to the tower. The door likely wasn’t in good condition before, but now weathers the knicks and beatings of the handful of Imperial Soldiers who attempting to break in using their axes. You note that the few mages that this unit has are standing around. They could likely bring this tower down on their own if they wanted, but you imagine that their commander wants whoever is inside captured alive. Either way, it looks as though they weren’t ready for a prolonged siege here, having left their equipment back at Garreg Mach. Whoever they’re currently attempting to reach must have been someone they pursued from the monastery, giving further credence to your decision to intervene here.
As you continue watching the scene, you see a knight clad in red, galloping on his horse and attempting to rally his men. Many of them look tired and ragged, their uniforms either muddied, tattered or singed from flames. Likely they were involved in the siege of Garreg Mach, and then pulled away by their commander to embark on whatever mission they seem to be on. Another positive in your favor. You and your troops are all fully rested and should have an advantage as far as stamina is concerned when compared to these battle-weary soldiers. The knight, who appears to be a Paladin of some sort, begins yelling at his soldiers.
“We must break through! The Prince of Faerghus lies within these walls, bloodied and bruised! If we can capture him here, we can strike the decisive blow against the Kingdom before the war even begins! Think of the lives we’d save! Of all the bloodshed we’d avoid! The future of Fodlan rests in our ability to capture this princeling here and now!”
“Ahh, how delightfully convenient.” Corrine whispers, at your side. You trade a glance with Sir Bertram, who gives you a curt nod. So, Prince Dimitri is still alive. For now, at least.
You’re surrounded by your newly formed mercenary company; weapons drawn. You get a good look at their weapons for the first time. “Killer Trio” appears to be more than just a name. Each of them is sporting a wicked looking ‘Killing Weapon’. The kind you always wanted back at the monastery but could never afford, you somewhat jealously note.
“The plan?” Milly asks, twirling a dagger on one finger.
