>>5298957It took us less than four hours by my estimates to arrive at the vault again. Entering the tomb I examine the sarcophagus inside. It was heavily modified with enhancements and runes to create a sarcophagus that would hold the user in immortal slumber until the spells were disabled upon removal of the lid.
Damnicon. I remember him. One of the lower ranking generals in the armies. He was assigned to lead the fifty seventh mixed shock and awe battalion. It was mainly composed of Daemon Berserkers and Ethereal siege mages. Damnicon was a unique case. While he was an ethereal himself he found himself closer friendship with the berserkers. He was noteworthy for manipulating his body to such a high degree it could avoid even high end destruction spells by simply popping in and out of the realm of mana at a moments notice.
He will do great in helping me re-establish my army after starting my new conquests.
With my strength I lift the Sarcophagus lid open and throw it to the side. Mana begins to twist and turn in the air as the Ethereal awakens slowly from his slumber. Upon realizing he is awake he is quick to grab the massive warhammer that was with him and ready for a swing only to stop at the sight of myself, mask removed. My red eyes stared at him expectantly.
After a moment of silence he speaks up "M-my lord? It is truly you… Not even the false lords can imitate your presence… i-it… it has been a long time since you were sealed away. Your empire is no more. We… we have f-failed you…" his voice is full of sadness and hate. Sadness for the fall of what he used to call home and hate for his own failure.
"Do not blame yourself for something you had no chance of preventing, Damnicon. You have done your best to await my return like the other few entumbed. But now I have returned, that prophecy was never meant for myself but for the false lords that took my place. I actually see them as a boon to our current plans. A quite effective distraction for that wenches servants as we rebuild our power… Tell me, do you have knowledge of where the other entumbed are?"
"Ah, resourceful as always my lord. But no. We have decided to keep the locations of our vaults a secret so we cannot get information of other tombs revealed to our enemies. I do remember their names. The Beast of Nardaš, Omerion. The High imp sorceress, Idelia. The king of Lerkitas forges, Yargalot. And The High general Heth himself." Ah good. They truly are loyal to their cores…
"Good… good. I am guessing not all of them are in our former territories?" He nods at my question. "Well we shall be leaving now. A lot has changed since my banishment."
We leave the vault. I stay behind to cast some spells to cave in the entrance hallway. It should delay anyone from finding out the truth for some time.
