With his worry about his son over TalOS went to the measure at hand, “I have been committing myself to research your culture and people and I found that you commit yourselves to an Oral Tradition. Is that correct?”
“That is.” Answered the largest of the wolfmen, “We do not have a Schola here with us so if you are seeking such information, we will do.”
With such words given TalOS decided to get straight to the point, “You five will recognize this weapon, it is the one your Gene-Father rewarded me with at the end of our bout against one another. Is there meaning in this weapon specifically?”
They all grew smiles as they looked upon it, “Its Helkif, an axe of the late Huscarl Yesif who fought alongside our Father fighting a horde of Trolls. The Tale says the Wolf King’s Father gave it to the Huscarl as a trophy for the conquest of the Lekirk Tribe.”
“So it does have some history to it.” TalOS said as he examined the weapon another time, “But examinations have demonstrated to me that the weapon is far older than a hundred years.”
“Then it will have it upon the weapon.” One of the Wolves declared with a hint of foresight, “Place it here and I’ll read its history.”
Doing as he was asked, TalOS placed the ice-covered weapon onto a nearby table and the wolves all looked over it with hints of curiosity. There was a chatter between one another as they pointed and prodded in the tongue of their native land. With his limited understanding of their tongue TalOS was able to determine they were talking about a long winter.
The largest of them gave a small laugh, “This weapon is known as Helkit, the axe of the Russ Everwinter.”
“Sounds like a tale.”
The creature before TalOS gave a toothy grin, “It is a tale as old as the Russ themselves.”
And like that TalOS was welcomed to his first telling of a Saga.
