If anyone should go home is you, your child is waiting, listen your sister and go stay with her rather than look for something which might destroy your family bonds forever.“Bah! You needn’t listen to this meaningless drivel. He’s only trying to worm his way into your head.” You shoot at the dhampir. “And might I remind you that you lost a duel, fair and square? You’re to lead me to the bottom whether you like it or not. Both your name and mine are at stake here.”
Ava’s eyes fall. “I’d.. rather not..”
“And you. The dog.” You turn your attention back to the wolf. “We’ve still beaten you back more than you have us. We got to this point together and we’re going to see it out to its end. If anyone should return home, it’s you. You have a sick daughter, do you not? My companions’ lives are at just as much risk as hers. Maybe you ought to listen to your sister and spend what time your kid has left at her side rather than slaughtering men in her name.”
“I won’t watch my daughter die. I don’t care what it takes, or who I have to kill.” Morne replies plainly. He flexes the arm behind his back. “.. Think it’s done.”
“What?” Emilia echoes, eyes on the beast man.
“Heed my warning, Ava. For your sake, I hope we don’t see each other again.” Morne snarls. He extends his back hand–in it, he holds a strange, rough black mortar stone, bandaged with rags and dusted in powder. You recognize it near instantly and maneuver to pull the dhampir and doll backward as he flings it down into the ground before you.
An explosion rocks the corridor, light blinding you and boom deafening you. The already cobbly, misshapen ground before you crumbles before your feet. You make the wolf’s shape disappear back down the hall as you slip into the dark below.
