To add further insult to injury, after everything was said and done the kingsmen who had lost the prince resigned his position on account of his failure. The cost of mobilization was too high, and the blame had to fall on someone to satisfy the court of public opinion. It couldn't fall on the prince, so instead the loyal kingsman took it upon himself to shoulder that responsibility for his king. A black day for your order to say the least.
