Everyone agreed with your decision to form a rescue party. You gathered the strongest and most skilled in fighting to help you rescue Mel.
Something bothered you, though. How did Mel get trapped to begin with? Being a beguiler meant that she'd have a better chance at identifying and disarming traps. Sadly the clankers' radios got broken by the attack, so you'd need to ask her yourself what had happened. You shared with everyone your thoughts that--despite these just being goblins--it might be a trap, taking precautions before departing like setting the clankers to look for you guys if too much time passed.
The trek took a few hours to make. It was cleared from any monsters and bandits due to Bertha's recent patrols, something you openly commended her for.
"I know a few other ways you could thank me right now, Master~" She'd wasted no time in flirting with you again after your compliment.
"I'll give you a proper thanks later if you keep your head in the mission." You reply back to her.
"Well said, Master-Savant." Gerty commented determinedly before facing the hammer wielding warrior. "Bertha, we need to focus on getting Mel back. Getting kidnapped and taken away... It isn't a fate I'd wish on anyone." You know she wouldn't admit it, but you could only imagine what her real thoughts on being abducted are.
"Hm, that does sound bad. Especially if it's goblins, ugh." Said Bertha to Gerty with a frown. Her smile came back as she turned to you again. "That doesn't mean I won't hold you to those words, Master~ You won't regret it, I promise~"
"Those bloody greenskins won't know what hit them, eh guv?" Cattleya meowed to you before you could reply to Bertha. She flexed her claws, clearly looking forward to putting the gauntlets you'd crafted her to use with some good old fashioned goblin extermination.
You hear some subtle rustling getting closer. "Look alive, ladies. We've got company." At your word they all fell silent and prepared for any attack.
Goblins sprang out from behind trees and bushes. Each of them, unlike the ones you'd smoked out earlier with Cattleya, had armor and swords. Though cheap and weak, it was proof that a major goblin settlement was closer than you'd like.
With Aether Wire and your Air Rifle you make quick work of those in the back. Cattleya, with her protective boosts, didn't need to worry as much when either clawing them to shreds or slicing them with her sword. Bertha stood by and crushed any of their attempts to flank with her hammer. Gerty skillfully skewered them with her spear as she pierced through the mob. Soon they were being routed.
At least a few dozen goblins lay dead while you sniped the stragglers trying to flee. They didn't stand a chance against your overpowered team.
But none could celebrate yet, Mel still had to be rescued. All of you kept on the move and lookout.
