>>5291688>>5291710>>5291716As it turns out, he hasn't gone particularly far.
You've just left the boundary of the arena out the back and strobed your torch up into a tree and there he is, perched in a bough and looking thoroughly unamused.
He perks up and flutters down to hover in front of you immediately, which is vaguely terrifying, but you're not going to let that stop you.
"Hey. You still want to come with me?" You ask him.
He caws, before landing on your shoulder and striking a pose. He's surprisingly heavy for such a small pokemon.
You have to chuckle, at least a little as you hold up a poke ball for him.
"Glad to have you along." You say as he disappears.
There's a click, before Volta's ball vanished, in accordance with the condition you set and then you and Fie both are hurrying back to the pokemon centre.
"Well, that was quicker than I expected." Fie admits as you divest yourselves of your coats and go sit down again.
"Not *everything* is a disaster with me." You say modestly, earning a chuckle from everyone else. "Anyway, I'm going to get my stitches out." You say, before heading up to see the nurse.
"You've dealt with that Rufflet then?" She asks, noting your damp clothes.
"Come to an understanding with." You correct as she gives back Rusty and Sage.
"Well, so long as the Rangers aren't going to bother either of us, I suppose it doesn't matter either way." The nurse says. "Come on, I'll get those stitches for you." She says, gesturing towards the surgery proper.
Getting your stitches out is a relatively quick, if slightly uncomfortable procedure, but when the nurse is finished, your arm feels a lot better, even if your arm is covered in a tracery of still somewhat tender scars that show pink against your skin.
"Be more careful in the long grass next time." The nurse advises you, without heat, before you return to your table.
