>WHAT IS IN IT?
She— It lets out a huff and recites haltingly,
"<span class="mu-r">Blood.</span>"
"Ambrosia, lactose, triglycerides, casein, red 40, ruddy nectar."
"..."
"Salt n' pepper."
"Everything which the children need for growth and proper nutrition."
Well, that does sound vaguely healthy.
>DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING SOLID TO WASH THIS DOWN WITH?
"Solid..."
The claw taps upon the table, drumming up a memory.
"Ah. Alas, alack."
"We have nothing solid in our larders today. Or anytime for that matter. Nothing which keeps well."
"I must humbly apologize for this... deficiency."
"But our cups are overfull; I have so much more <span class="mu-r">blood</span> to give, and many more extra portions if you so desire."
"And if you want something else..."

"No, no, no. Right now I just want to satisfy your heart with this delicious meal. And in filling yours, you will soon fill mine."
>DRINK
You gently take the soup bowl in both hands. The ceramic feels much warmer than the <span class="mu-r">fluid</span> now tipping back into your throat.
The taste is utterly overwhelming.
There is sweetness at first, but it's soon followed by the painfully familiar taste of savory and metallic <span class="mu-r">blood,</span> along with a hint of salt and cream. If one spoonful is enough to shock you after your wretched diet, then several mouthfuls are almost orgiastic; you have to slow down to a minor trickle to stop yourself from choking.
<span class="mu-g">This soup is actually pretty fucking delicious.</span>

And yet...
Just one portion feels heavy in your stomach.
The squirming sensation from earlier gets worse. More than just a bout of nausea, it's as if a living creature has found a little home in the piping of your guts. Something is straining within you. Writhing. <span class="mu-r">Pulsating.</span>
"Is... Is everything to your liking?"
The smile is gone. There's some anxiety to its abrasive voice.
Its words are deliberate.
"I know humans can eat blood. I've seen it before, how one of your family tore out his brother's throat with his teeth to drink the <span class="mu-r">sweetness</span> from his veins."
"You know, it's very strange that you humans die from that. We do that all the time when we're thirsty."
>VOMIT.
>ATTACK.
>WATER. BRING ME WATER.
>OH GOD, I THINK I'M DYING.
>I'VE EATEN MUCH WORSE BEFORE.
>I DON'T THINK I CAN FINISH THIS.
>I WANT TO GO HOME.
