"She was the one who proposed the rule of silence in Wishbone village in the first place. In addition, during the time of the theft of the Porcubus prankster, there were several eye-witness accounts that confirmed Millie's location at a different part of Wishbone village." answered Yan Wong.
"Has there been any visitors that have registered themselves as skintalkers?"
"No, you're the only one to this date."
Sathriel was deep in thought as she turned the case over in her head while she cracked a sunflower seed in her mouth and spat out the shell. Her thoughts were suddenly disrupted by an ear-splitting alien screech that came from within the village like a wave.
"What was that?" Solomon asked. "That sounded like-"
"-Skintalking." Sathriel nodded. "So there was in fact a grain of truth to the officer's claim."
Yan Wong's bark-iron eye slits narrowed. "It also seems they have apprehended the culprit given the gathering of the village folk."
Upon hearing this, Sathriel removed the skintalking silencer from her neck. "Well I guess there is no need for this horrid little collar." she remarked, then she turned to look at the gathering crowd and her breath hitched.
Uninhibited by the Collar, Sathriel's skintalking senses was perceived through her eyes as well as her ears with runic texts of languages alien and familiar floating within her vision in addition to the common whispers in her ears, the characters and phrases that floated about hinting secret truths unspoken about the reality. And as she gazed at the sight, she saw Officer Grizzie shoving the gathering crowd aside with the 'culprit' in tow: Mayor Millie, still inhibited by her silencer and futilely protesting her innocence to the crowd's ignorance.
No. Something about this incident screamed wrongness to Sathriel. It reeked of INJUSTICE. The runes floating in front her eyes told her that Millie was truly innocent in the incident, related to the case but still wholly innocent. There was only one way to stop this. Sathriel stepped forward and opened her mouth.
"HOLD IT!"
