>grenades, toolkit hardware interface kit etc. This is all very reasonable, and likely to be possessed by any Expeditionary Force. The one issue is medkits - this is basically Haemolymph, the postmortal space blood-surrogate. You could offer to supply them some, and improve their chances of survival... The current amount you possess is 134.
>(optional) supply Lars and his expeditionary team with Haemolymph...>25>50>100>Some other amount?>spend money upfront for guns etc...There is actually no need for this as (due to your low MIGHT stats hehe) the Expeditionary Force is considerably better armed than even you are! If you had better Might you could provide them with say some Assault Frigates or Destroyer escort, a carrier or battlecruiser... sadly we are still at the stage of waiting to construct the Armed Merchant Cruiser fleet lol. Your cyberninjas might actually be of some slight help in stealth though I am not too sure how effective they would be in deep space hehe, besides, they are still engaged trying to contact hacker collectives (I promise I will get to this)
>Railgun, precisionSo in my imagination (I know it is different in various videogames) the railgun is more akin to a rocket launcher, because of the insane blast and spallation of debris... the infamous naval railgun demonstration video on youtube
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O2QqOvFMG_Aetc. the description tags and conceptualisation of the rail driver from one of my past game settings is this:
RAIL DRIVER
Long Range, Deafening, Armour Piercing, Explosive, Insane Recoil, Backblast, Slow Reload, Bulky
Two stage hypervelocity single salvo electromagnetic cannon, with internal preloading of a fin-stabilised high density sabot penetrator. Point this at anything to send it to the afterlife. Bystanders should avoid the area.
So it is more useful for shooting at war mechs and armour and things. If you want precision, you probably just want some form of DMR designated marksman rifle etc. In Stars Without Number I think the rifles are commonly mag rifles, ie magnetic slug throwers. In Lancer they are called Linacs or linear accelerators I believe. So you can have some variant of this technology in DMR form, they would likely be accurate single shot placement but poor at suppression, up to you. I would also mention that pistols SMGs, shotguns are also situationally very viable (there is a compact / mobility descriptor tag as well as one-handed - think confined spaceship ventilation ducts...)
>equip the squad mainly for precision (eg DMR) but sacrifice fire volume / suppression>equip the squad for sheer destructive firepower (railguns etc). If there are indeed hostages or survivors, you can recover pieces of them laterSo I will let you decide this. Lars and his team will travel to the sector 77 spaceship... you will probably hear of them only in next turn, hehe.
And now for the promised hacker collectives...
