The initial battle spread wider, as more armor, more weapons, got involved, not just in the center, but to the flanks- where the Twaryians did not expect.
Lieutenant Von Eschenz squinted through binoculars- watched the targets he and his platoon had selected- then went down to the turret again. It was time to see if he was as good at shooting as he was at study. It wasn’t the first time he’s shot at people, though he didn’t know for sure yet if he’d taken lives. There was a beauty in this landscape, pockmarked by battle as it was- and in the mechanical inventions now being brought to war against one another.
The spirit wandered while the sharpened mind pulled the trigger. Three shells went out, shooting stars with glowing tails. The other vehicle commanders had good aim- but the Twaryians were either stubborn, or their machines were built tough. Every shot struck its target, but they kept on, even though they were most certainly terribly wounded. If they were beasts being hunted they would be limping, streaming blood in a futile attempt to escape their fate for a little longer.
Feeling bad for them was out of the question. With but a glance, Albert would become prey himself- his platoon vanished amongst the trees before the gunsmoke faded.
