The former detective’s new ears twitch. The girl cocks her head curiously, able to take in her environment more clearly. “Hm, interesting.” Then someone passes by their table on the way out, and she hurriedly grabs her hat. Before she gets the chance to put it on, Clover jumps at her and wraps her into a large wolf-hug.
“Thanks so much for joining my pack, Holm-Holm!! It’s gonna be great, I promise you!” She hugs her tighter, shoulders shaking a little. “I promise, I really do! I promise you’ll have lots of fun and I’ll be good and a good pack-leader and you won’t regret it and-”
“I get it, I get it!” Melissa wriggles, trying to free her arms and hide her shame, but the wolf-girl continues hugging her tightly, unnoticing.
Eventually, Clover lets her go. The former detective’s face is red from embarrassment, and she quickly puts on her hat, even though the entire coffee shop had clearly already seen. The ears, flattened against her head, still poke out from under her hat on either side. She clears her throat very conspicuously. “Alright, I think we should leave.”
“Can we go to your old office, Holm-Holm? I wanna see your old cases to see if there are any clues!”
“Sure, sure, let’s just get out of here!”
