“Do you have proof of this?” the dark-cloaked man says, the Flash turning to him.
“C'mon Batman, do you really think they'd lie about something like that?” Flash asks, the 'Batman' scowling at him.
“I at least can confirm Lobo tried to murder them.” Superman says, everyone at the table turning to him. “While we were captured, he did speak of both of you. Mainly he tried to make fun of me, saying a child came closer to killing him than I did. But he never said who sent him.”
“Just like a mercenary.” Batman continues. “But if Dr. Fate did send Lobo after you, what was the purpose?”
“He doesn't like us because we no longer have fates.” your son says, everyone looking to him. “Father broke his own fate, changing the course of our people's destiny. We were, by the words of the Supreme Kai of Time herself, supposed to have died out almost two decades ago.”
“Undo your fate?” the dark-skinned man asks, sounding confused. “What do you mean? There is no such thing as destiny, we all make our own choices.”
“Yes. But the choices anyone makes can be predicted, based on past decisions and emotional states.” Batman says, staring at your son quite intensely. “So when you say that your father broke his fate, he changed the course of history by acting out of character at some pivotal choice.”
“That's a discussion for another day, for now we need to focus.” you say, then think to Chilli. “Tell your mother and everyone else back at King Cold's place where we are.”
“Of course.” he replies also telepathically, you then addressing the room at large.
“Lobo accepted the job of killing me and my son by Nabu, then after I and Lord Freeza beat back Lobo, Chilli hunted down Nabu who'd hired him.” you continue. “My son nearly destroyed him back then, but at that time another deity interfered by stopping time, taking Nabu away right before Chilli could land the finishing blow. And only just minutes ago were we told of his whereabouts, by the same deity.”
“So, you came here and extracted your vengeance against him, finishing off the job.” the non-winged woman says, brows furrowed. “But why would the god who saved Nabu before now abandon him, leaving him for the wolves?”
Which is a very good question.
