>>6107383“Thank you Lord Blackmoore… what I was saying is that trying to chase them or herd them is a fool's errand as they will fall like sand through our fingers. What we need to do is present them with a vulnerability that they will seek to exploit, making them commit to a battle that will then be turned against them." You said back to him and Langston. “Columns of troops and something similar to that.”
A wave of nausea hit you after all this talking and you wanted to just close your eyes for a second. This hangover would be the death of you.
“But before we can make such a decision, what do we really know about the lands?” You said to them and continued immediately. “I have fought against the gnolls and nearly died when they ambushed our landing party on the other side of Darrowmere River.”
That got everyone’s attention, you noticed that Jon Maxwell gave you a curious look.
“The forests are deep and are made up from trees far older than the forest elsewhere. The gnolls used the trees to hide and dropped amongst us and during the battle one of my knights died and I got my breastplate pierced by one of them.” You told everyone and continued. “Without my squire, I wouldn’t be here today. That being said, we aren’t going to fight on our own terms, but on theirs so we need to disturb that as much as possible when we go in there. But before we do that, what do we know about the lands? To what extent are the gnolls there?”
You pointed out the northern and southern Durnhold hills on the map and looked at Langston.
“The southern hills have been empty for as long everyone here remembers, the lands haven’t been as suitable for farming as elsewhere so no people moved there and those who were there, got either killed or driven out during the Second War.” Langston said to you and continued. “Now we haven’t seen any signs of gnolls moving into there but…”
“You can’t count it out either…” You said.
“Right… so it is an empty parcel of land, maybe…” Langston said and continued again. “Now the northern hills or mountains really, we think the gnolls came from there and that place is outside our reach.”
“Never has been part of Durnholde?” You asked back.
“No.” Blackmoore replied to you. “We won’t go there, no one has.”
“Thank you.” You said and leaned back before crossing your arms.
“Do you have anything else to say?” Blackmoore asked you.
“No, just that we should have a coherent strategy and not just a brutish approach.” You said and knew that it would infuriate Garithos somewhat. This time though he held his tongue to your surprise.
“A short break maybe, then we could decide the details of this campaign.” Langston suggested.
“That works for me.” You said and was halfway up already.
