>Take extra caution to disconnect everything and figure out which parts of the wires are integral to this setup. If you don't remove Cutemon carefully, you could do permanent damage to its core, affecting its abilities and putting its life at risk. You have to deem this a necessary expenditure.
It's integral that you do this the right way. It looks like something is interfacing straight with his Digicore. Vademon is trying to manipulate his source code, apparently. If you aren't careful here, you could harm this Digimon beyond repair. You recall the state Raremon was in, with its mangled, dying core. You can’t have the same happen here.
"Don't touch anything. I've got this." You say.
Ryan nods and sends out Gizamon to guard the door. Realisticslly, he can’t do anything if any enemies come in, but it makes you feel safer.
Cutemon twitches as you remove several clips from his ear. You start with all the peripherals first, pulling away anything that isn’t going inside his body. As you work, you feel a sudden surge of energy passing between you and your Digivice. You glance at your wrist for a second, then feel the power leave you.
“What’s wrong?” Ryan asks, noticing your reaction.
“Astamon just swapped between his current form and Porcupamon. Felt the feedback- he’s back up to Ultimate now.”
“It still baffles me how you guys can do that.” He says.
Oddly, he clasps a hand over his mouth after speaking, like he’s uttered something he’s not supposed to. You find it a baffling reaction, but turn away from him to continue working on Cutemon. It’s not like he doesn’t know what you and your partner can do, he’s been fighting alongside you long enough.
“Hand me that tool.” You say, motioning to a scalpel blade.
He obeys instantly, grasping it by the middle and placing the handle between your outstretched fingers. You turn the blade upon a series of strange tubes, who don’t seem to be active. They’re latched tightly to Cutemon’s side, but there’s no data exchange, so you regard it as safe enough to sever.
Luckily, you’re right. Nothing happens once you cut the wires. However, you almost jab your rescuee in shock when something loads itself into the room.
