>>5899671Taking a small, calming breath you turn to look at the clear sky despite the pouring rain. A smile breaks across your face as you gently nod your head. "I suppose I am. And that's what sent a shiver through my spine. I'm a being that used to be ruled simply by logic and reasoning, not the incandescence aka passionate emotions that embodies humanity. Most certainly not the reckless abandon that allows one to do as one pleases. It feels all so weird to me, so confusing that I can't help but be afraid of what I'm becoming."
"Junketsu..." Satsuki mutters, keeping quiet as she stares into the sky as well.
"It's not like us Life-fibers. We don't have these 'wrinkles" that allow your kind to think the way we do. Every thread, every fiber of our being is straight-laced and ironed out into a smooth, singular collective. We're no different than social insects. We follow our directive and simply do, though now I think about it, it's no surprise you thought of us as so monstrous. We're no better than icy cold, seemingly lifeless machines. It also didn't help that I didn't pronounce myself the way that I should to convey my true feelings accordingly. This is a new field of expertise for me." You explain, raising your left hand to look at it closely.
"It didn't help that I stubbornly refused to listen to you. You were dealing with your psychological problems, but I didn't want to acknowledge that slowly you were becoming human. If I did, then it would make my ambition that much harder to fulfill. How can I stop my mother's ambition and free humanity from the control of the life fibers if I'm incapable of being ruthless, calculating, and capable of an icy heart to do what needs to be done? If I started to view life-fibers as people, then my convictions would wane, the keenness of my actions would dull, and my mind would be clouded." Satsuki explains, slowly tilting her head to you.
"Satsuki." This time it was your turn for a long pause as you turned to look at her. Your heart and soul were already in synch, understanding what she was going to say before she spoke and vice versa.
"I'm sorry." Both of you say in unison, slowly cracking into another heartfelt, hearty laughter.
"Seem like we're both pretty clumsy huh?" Satsuki smiles.
"Yeah, it's precisely why we can synchronize so well with each other." You smile back, slowly reaching your hand to grab Satsuki's. To which she shares your hand without question. "I don't think your father planned on making you or your sister a weapon. Unlike Ragyo who gave up her humanity, your father still has his parental instincts. Thus, no father would willingly choose to weaponize their bundle of joys. But even so, he wanted to give the two of you the means to protect yourselves. And to choose your destiny. "
"Yes...I like to think that's the truth." Satsuki nods, leaning closer to you. Her heartbeat practically pulsated rhythmically with yours as the two of you were touching.
