"I've never actually done this before..." You say as you sit hunched over Ming who was sitting cross-legged with her back to you. Your hands lay flat across the bones of her shoulder blades, an easy feat given how thin she was. Reaching out with your mind, or perhaps it was more of a sixth sense now, you attempt to feel out Ming's chi. Though the intricacies behind it elude you, it was a simple matter of simply reaching out for...Ming. In the sea of astral projection within your own plane of existence it was akin to looking for a familiar face in the sea of everything else. It was made much easier given the fact you were touching her directly but you wanted to attempt something different this time. You wanted to see in greater detail, to sharpen your vision in this plane.
You had once read about the life lines that ran through one's body. Meridians, you remember them being called. The texts were rather old and annoyingly obtuse so it made them difficult to understand but the gist you had gathered was that much like the veins that flowed throughout the body, meridians were a network that distributed chi throughout the body. You know they were a big part of acupuncture and in retrospect a large reason why your pressure point techniques worked. However, when it came to attempting to balance them you felt no more qualified to do so than you would at preforming surgery. In the distance you hear Ming say something but you remain focused on your task. Somehow it feels like your vision is blurring in your projection when you start to see something within the well of energy that is Ming. It's hard to make out but you can vaguely make out lines running through Ming's body. More than just mere lines, they looked like tiny rivers running all throughout her being and at times you think you can feel them beneath your fingers.
You attempt to contemplate on what to do when suddenly Ming turns around and shakes you. Pulled away from your focus, all your physical senses flood your mind while a voice echoes loudly in your ears. "Hey! Are you ok?" Ming asks before forcing one of your eyes open and peering into it. You pull away and rub your temples as an acute headache spikes in your brain.
"Yes...I think so?" You answer with slight confusion. "Did something happen?"
"We've been sitting here for about an hour. When I turned to see if you were still awake you looked like you had pulled every muscle in your body." Ming explains. "Are you ok? I don't think I've seen your face that scrunched up before."
"I think...I might have focused a bit too hard." You admit, shaking your head. "I tried to- nevermind. I'm fine though. Let's try again." You insist.
"Are you sure? You know too much stress is bad for your health." Ming warns. You let out a chuckle.
