>>5363445Looking from Matt to the box of Aurum Impulsum in his hold, that ever-present aura of wrongness emanating from its container, you want as little to do with the infernal substance as possible.
In a direct contradiction to that train of thought, almost-robotically, you take it from his hold because, on the other hand, it's Aurum Impulsum that could mean the difference between life or death for your own comrades. The snapping open of the container feels like the only noise in the room, but, regardless, you take one of the vials in-between your claws as well as the syringe to put them in your utility belt.
"Keep the other dose," You push the box back into his hands; you have more than enough faith in the others not to need both of them. No matter, the Aurum Impulsum feels like a lead weight among the few things you have within your belt, so you do your best to ignore it for the time being.
"B should be here any minute..." Matt says, rising to his feet. Just as the last word falls from his tongue, a flash of green fills the living room.
"Hey guys! You ready?'" Bernard has arrived to take you guys to the warehouse, but he quickly takes note of the grim atmosphere that has overtaken the living room. "What's everyone lookin' so down-in-the-dumps for?"
Zeroing in on the blonde-- or, more specifically, the new suit he's wearing-- you ignore the question, getting off of the couch to take a closer look.
"I thought green was your favorite color..." You weren't sure what you'd expected for Bernard's new suit, but you find yourself pleasantly surprised as you look him over.
"It is, but Jenna thought I'd look good in red-- and she was right!" He responds with a lopsided grin. "Do I not look awesome? Fantastic even?" He strikes a heroic pose for emphasis.
"Jenna sure has an eye for this stuff." You remark, grabbing one of his arms to admire her handiwork. As opposed to the green-accented scheme he had first worn, the blonde had traded that color for a dashing red. It's a good change, in your opinion, along with the boots and gloves that were added along with it. In any case, just like Matt's suit, Bernard's suit seems to be way higher quality overall.
"Um... fish?" Bernard questions, strained face taking on a similar shade to his suit. You don't know why at first, but it quickly dawns on you that you'd been squeezing the blonde's bicep and not his actual suit material. Though you hadn't really realized what you'd been doing for the past few moments, you have the overwhelming urge to run out of the room to escape the embarrassment that fills your chest like hot smoke.
"G-Great suit!" You all-but-shout, trying to play that off. Mortified, you refuse to look at either of the guys' faces, so all you can do is hope they bought that.
"Can we go?" Matt drones, getting slightly impatient.
