Lucian stood back watching Adok and the Nobleman talk about the situation. Theories and thoughts now being traded between the two of them. It was an intellectual experiment the two of them with the mentions of goblins and what Adok had to describe as rat-like beastmen coming up.
It was there that Lucian noticed something on the ground, “I see something over here, I’m going to check it out.” His words did not seem to reach them yet he could not stop himself. Curiosity was gripping him at what looked to be an odd stain.
The ground was a disgusting brown from the slurry of feces, piss, and other materials the nobles threw down here. That was the reason this spot in the near darkness caught the eye of the Black Knight. It looked to be a puddle of red in the murky waste of an entire city.
As he came upon it the realization that it was a bloody crimson shot him like an arrow. His eyes, blinded by the light which washed in from the well opening, adjusted just that little bit that he was led into another of the tunnels off to the side.
His heart skipped as he followed the trail. A hint of copper came upon his tongue as memories of battles long ago replayed within his mind. A phantom he realized, but it was mimicking what he should be smelling in reality if it was not for all the sewage that he was crawling through for the longest time.
It was blood, and its trail led Lucian to a corpse. It was probably Mason, freshly killed with a crude knife to the back.
