“Transhuman Terror…” TalOS allowed a few moments to chew through the meaning of those words from within his mind, “I have yet to witness such things, but I suspect that such a thing is simply a problem with the flesh.”
“Do the Skitarii of the Mechanicum not suffer from it?”
TalOS gave a solemn nod as he heard those words, “That is true. It is through a series of mechanical augmentations that they have grown strong against animalistic fears. It is similar to yourself where by changing one’s body and mind you are stronger than before.”
“A reasonable assessment.” Admitted the Imperial Fist as he took a moment to look out, “So man must evolve?”
“Indeed. Mankind must adapt themselves for the coming age. Improve their bodies with machine or biological engineering so that they can face the terrors. In that respect I see the Astartes as a good step in that direction.”
“Will there be a next step in our development?”
“I think so. Only the Machine God knows of perfection.” TalOS wondered to himself as if for just a moment, “But that does not mean it's the only advantage they can have.”
“Your thesis was constructed well. What else does man need if not strengthening their flesh in both mind and body?”
“Faith.” TalOS answered as he gave a solemn nod, “Man with fate will do a great amount of things. Knowing that your life shall go towards the goals of a God can do wonders.”
“But there are no Gods.” The Legion Master told TalOS outright.
TalOS was caught for a moment but instead he looked upon the Fist in pity, “Then you will not see man press himself to the forefront. A pity.”
The Imperial First looked upon TalOS with a moment of confusion upon him. To deny the benefit of a God is something… well it made sense from what TalOS heard. He simply shook his head as he turned towards the battle where the fist was looking.
“In time I will seek out to place men on the front lines. After all this is done I shall be giving you a Auxilia of Lucian Soldiers. They will serve the Crusade well.”
The Legion Master gave a nod, “The Imperial Fists will be thankful to you, Primarch TalOS. For both that and your sons who have served honorably by our side.” The Astartes spoke as if the previous words carried little weight in his mind.
