The two of you approach Benedict. The many layers of clothing he wears to hide his body have been completely soaked. What little hair is still on his head is also a soaking wet mess.
"Benedict?" You softly whisper.
His head turns to glance at you before he stares back into the sea. "D-Do y-y-you ever feel like you shouldn't be alive?" His speech is slurred, you can't quite tell if his robotic body is being damaged by the rain or if he's just struggling to find his words. "L-Like you're a mo-monster? I. I Shouldn't. Shouldn't be here."
"Bene? What's up, man?" Lex tries to smile. "If it's because you're a bit weird, Nicole's-"
"No. I'm." His breathing gets ragged as he desperately tries to collect his thoughts. "I'm. Benedict. Yes. I'm. No. No. Benedict was a human. Benedict was a chef. Benedict wasn't a burden." His remaining hand grips tightly onto a nearby railing.
[FRACTURED MIND] "I. It hurts. It hurts to think. IT HURTS TO THINK!" And in one jerky motion, his hand suddenly crushes the metal railing with barely any effort. "HURTS. HURTS!"
>-1 RESTRAINT to BENEDICT! 6/8 LEFT
"Why. Why am I like this? Why?" Benedict's body is shivering, shaking, and you doubt it's because of the rain.
"Fuck." Lex can only offer a nervous look at the chef before glancing back at you.
What do you say or do with Benedict? Pick three.
>You notice a few abandoned fishing rods nearby the tent. Collect them, hand one to Benedict, and ask him to fish with you and Lex. (-3 MEAT BAIT, you'll get some fish to cook or sell later.)
>[ANOMALOUS ABILITIES] "You're not the only person with those thoughts, you know? I have powers like you but I'm not a burden. No one is." Revel in your mutual weirdness. You're not too different, after all.
>[PERSON OF INTEREST] "It's not your fault. You and Adam might've had some difficulties but what friends don't? You should be angry at THEM instead." Try to focus his anger, his loathing, his hatred towards a justifiable target.
>[UNSTABLE] "It doesn't matter what people think about you. You're still you, for better or worse." He is who he is. He can't ever change that.
>"I don't see a monster. I see a friend. I see someone who has someone who cares about him." Try to comfort him. "People care about you."
>It's risky. But you have to. Hug him. He clearly needs it.
>Write in.
And when you decide to go onto the enemy ship, what do you want to search for? Pick three.
>Documents. You want to know why they're here, where they came from, and what their goal was.
>Equipment. Weapons, ammo, whatever you can find.
>Cargo and Valuables. Anything you can sell down the line.
>Anomalous. They had anomalous tattoos, maybe they also had anomalous trinkets?
>Communication. Try to get more information about the Infinite Sea by talking to other ships. (You might encounter some weird characters if you pick this.)
>Transport. In case shit goes tits up with your ship, some lifeboats wouldn't be amiss. That SENIOR PIRATE had to leave somehow.
>Write in.
