“Er.” Haile coughed, and the Major took notice.
“What is it, Lady Countess?”
“Our observation aircraft was shot down by ground fire, quite close to our positions.”
“Damn. Is there another one?”
“Not nearby yet,” Haile bit on her words, “Their last report indicated that the next wave is converging on you now…if what you said about flanking forces is true. They didn’t see those exactly, but an armored unit including T-15 types is entering the combat zone to the northwest of your last battle. I should hope that I need not say what my expectations are of my tank commanders.”
It was thinly disguised, very official and clean praise. The panzer officers had been singled out for high expectations, now. However…T-15s were not opponents to take lightly. While the 5-centimeter guns of the m24-32 were relatively new weapons designed to keep pace with the developing battlefield, they had actually been designed in counter to the appearance of a previous generation of T-15s, which the Twaryians were not presently fielding, in favor of an up-armored version. That they turned out to deal well with the more numerous T-16 was a blessing not anticipated for its users- and a reason for many to curse that there were not more of the 5-centimeter cannons around in general.
“Hmmm…” Major Yule made a contemplative hum, “…Any units, do you see flanking enemies yet?”
Not yet.
“They may be repositioning or delaying their movement. Be ready for anything, but take advantage of the extra time they’re giving us, too. Who knows how much of it they’re willing to give us. It might be only a moment.”
