"But...But..." He tries to form an argument and remember something else that would help his case, but with Hyde pulling him away from being bitten by a wolf, he ultimately gave in.
"Your safety should come first, partner. If we find the rest of your people, we'll let you paint the picture on your own terms." Hyde slowly backs away as he looks at the leader of the pack dead in the eyes, not wanting to get rabies when he didn't even plan on fighting.
Breaking formation and leaving in a V line, you instruct Hyde on how you plan on dealing with this looming threat for the next few days.
First, a background check on who's who. Noting down names, features and mannerisms on a piece of paper, who you kept under close guard to make sure no one else read it.
Secondly, you would ask them if they forgot anything important, if they felt like something was missing in their minds, or if they saw anyone lacking a face recently, all coming down to varying degrees of 'no'.
"Well, the whole point of forgetting is no to remember something important, how could I remember what I just forgot?"
"Someone with no face? I think you would hear something going down the other wagons if a creepy sight like that showed up!"
"Goo Goo, Gah Gah..."
"Of course he doesn't remember anything, you're asking a baby!"
After hearing what everyone had to say in person and re-reading all answers in the following night, two options were very clear: Either the entity wasn't here and you were safe, or it is very good at hiding.
The only ones who said something noteworthy were #4, who clearly forgot everything anyway, and Farnese, who-
...Farnese's section is blank? That's weird, you thought she would be the first one you would interrogate, but she did told Serpico she didn't want to see anyone.
Well, the horses are resting today, so you might as well waltz there to be sure.
Limping over a few steps with your cane and a short sword on your free hand, you check Serpico sharpening his sword while Hyde pets his harpy. You're relatively safe on their earshot.
Reaching Farnese's wagon, you notice that she's lying down, the lantern inside her lodgings still lit. She makes very little movements, being sluggish and groaning with every twist and turn. Her whole body, safe for her head, is under a heavy blanket, making it hard for her to turn around.
Since you're facing her casting shadow, it's safe to assume she hasn't noticed your near presence. Great if she's the enemy, creepy if she's just regular Farnese.
>Talk between the curtains.>Enter the wagon.>Ask her to come out.
