Also I think the biggest reason for emotional suppression is this: teaching our sons how to act despite the strongest Pariah Fields our blackstone can generate.
At high levels, a null field can be absolutely debilitating. It deprives one of emotions, of passions, even of willpower to survive. It would be a huge handicap for both sides, but especially those to whom passion is relied upon (i.e. Thousand Sons, World Eaters, etc.)
But through the introduction of emotional suppression, our sons can be inured to this, and learn how to operate and even thrive under these conditions. To rely not on ones own strength and willpower, but the programming of the blessed machine spirit. To move, shoot, and fight under commands of holy binaric, exactly like the blessed machine who is not impeded by the field. To sense the weight of the Pariah Field and not feel dread or terror, but realize they are now given the opportunity for a piety under the Machine Gods gaze by acting in accordance to his programmed will.
Where our enemies and even other legions will be crippled by the intense pariah fields we may one day generate, our sons will have internal cogitators they can rely upon for strength to continue to operate at peak efficiency. The legion best able to fight in the conditions we create.
Where Magnus Sons are empowered by warp storms, we will be empowered by the Pariah Field and machine thought.
