You cleared your throat, took a minute to make sure that your impression didn’t have any glaring flaws and decided to try again.
<span class="mu-r">“Just do it, you fool!”</span> you snapped back. <span class="mu-r">“New complications have popped up, and we need time to regroup and plan our response.”</span>
Another pause, another crackle over the radio, and when the Russian man spoke again, you couldn’t help but notice the universal note of suspicion and fear in his voice, language barrier be damned.
<span class="mu-r">“I don’t have time to argue with you. Just meet me at the location we agreed upon earlier.”</span> you demanded.
The man seemed to be asking you a question, but you had no actual idea of what he might have been trying to convey.
<span class="mu-r">“I have to go. I will call you if anything else changes.”</span> you said, before storing the radio in one of your belt’s pouches.
You have no idea whether that actually worked or not, but it should at least give them a reason to pause in their assault. If they believed you, then they should be pulling out right about now. If not, then they’ll start to doubt the validity of the orders that they’re receiving.
<span class="mu-b">“I’m not sure you managed to completely convince them.”</span> Vic said, taking a step towards you. <span class="mu-b">“The men currently engaged with Flint and Richard will most likely continue fighting, even as they retreat. And there’s no predicting what the teleporter’s true agenda is.”</span>
